मंद शीतल वायु मेरे शरीर और आत्मा को ठंडक और सुख प्रदान कर रही  है। साथ ही माँ के हांथों का स्पर्श और अश्रु जल भी मेरी आत्मा को शीतल कर रही है। इस के लिए पूरी जिंदगी अपने को जलता रहा था।

माँ के इस स्पर्श के लिए ना जाने कब से तरस रहा था। मैंने उसे वचन दिया था, उसके पाँच पुत्र जीवित रहेंगे। वचन पूरा करने का संतोष मुस्कान बन अधरों पर है। बचपन से आज तक मुझे अपनी जीवन के सारे पल याद आ रहें हैं। अभी तक ना जाने कितने अनुतरित प्रश्न मुझे मथते रहें हैं। कहतें हैं, मृत्यु के समय पूरे जीवन की घटनाएँ नेत्रों के सामने आ जाते हैं। क्या मेरी मृत्यु मुझे मेरे पूर्ण जीवन का अवलोकन करवा रही है? अगर हाँ, तब मैं कहना चाहूँगा- मृत्यु जीवन से ज्यादा सहृदया, सुखद और शांतीदायक होती है।

यह प्राचीन, दार्शनिक व्याख्या है। जो सिर्फ गैर-प्लेटोनिक प्रेम को जानते हैं, उन्हें त्रासदी पर बात करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। इस तरह के प्रेम में किसी प्रकार की त्रासदी का स्थान नहीं हो सकता। – लियो टॉल्स्टॉय।

प्लेटोनिक संबंध या प्रेम दो लोगों के बीच एक विशेष भावनात्मक और आध्यात्मिक संबंध है, जो सामान्य हितों, मिलते-जुलते विचारों,  आध्यात्मिक संबंध, और प्रशंसा  हैं। अधिकांश दोस्ती व्यक्तिगत रुप से या कार्यस्थान से शुरू होतें हैं।

इसका नाम ग्रीक दार्शनिक प्लेटो के नाम पर रखा गया है, हालांकि उन्हों ने कभी भी इस शब्द का इस्तेमाल नहीं किया।  प्लेटोनिक प्रेम निकटता से हुए आत्मियता, लगाव  अौर  आकर्षण  है। इसमें शारीरिक लगाव या आकर्षण से ज्यादा ज्ञान और सच्चे सौंदर्य के साथ जुड़ाव होता हैं।

Platonic love is a special emotional and spiritual relationship between two people who love and admire one another because of common interests, a spiritual connection, and similar worldviews. It does not involve any type of sexual involvement. Most friendships begin as either personal or professional.

It is named after Greek philosopher Plato, though the philosopher never used the term himself. Platonic love as devised by Plato concerns rising through levels of closeness to wisdom and true beauty from carnal attraction to individual bodies to attraction to souls, and eventually, union with the truth.
