The first and greatest
victory is to conquer yourself;
to be conquered by yourself
is of all things most shameful and vile.

Love is born into every human being;
it calls back the halves of
our original nature together;
it tries to make
one out of two and heal
the wound of human nature.

Excellence is not a gift,
but a skill that takes practice.
We do not act ‘rightly’
because we are ‘excellent’,
in fact we achieve ‘excellence’
by acting ‘rightly.

Talk to yourself once in a day,
otherwise,
you may miss meeting
an excellent person in this world.

Anything that makes weak –
physically, intellectually and spiritually,
reject it as poison.

Never think there is anything impossible for the soul.
It is the greatest heresy to think so.
If there is sin, this is the only sin;
to say that you are weak, or others are weak.

You have to grow from the inside out.
None can teach you,
none can make you spiritual.
There is no other teacher but your own soul.

Teach this triple truth to all:
A generous heart,
kind speech,
and a life of service and
compassion are the things
which renew humanity.
