Positive Psychology-Philophobia or Fear of Love

Philophobia is the fear of falling in love or of becoming emotionally connected with another person. It’s like other phobias, particularly those that are social in nature. it can impact our life if not treated.

Causes – Past experiences. Traumatic past relationships Infidelity, betrayal, Cultural experiences, Fear of rejection or heartbreak can cause someone to stay away from romantic relationships.

Treatment and advices– In some cases auto suggestions, exercise, breathing exercises , Lifestyle changes, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness strategies are helpful. The professional treatment suggested are – to seek therapy, counseling or to take help of mental health professional. In some cases doctors may prescribe antidepressants or antianxiety medications .
