IIT-Madras student’s suicide: Fathima’s father demands fair prob

According to WHO data, the age standardized suicide rate in India is 16.4 per 100,000 for women (6th highest in the world) and 25.8 for men (ranking 22nd).
IIT मद्रास की छात्रा फातिमा लतीफ की खुदकुशी
फातिमा लतीफ (Fathima Latif) के परिवारवाले इसे आत्महत्या नहीं बल्कि हत्या मान रहे हैं. उन्हें आरोप लगाया कि इसमें IIT मद्रास के ही एक प्रोफेसर का हाथ हो सकता है, जो कथित रूप से उसके अलग धर्म के कारण उसके साथ भेदभाव करता था चेन्नई. IIT मद्रास की छात्रा फातिमा लतीफ (Fathima Latif) की खुदकुशी (Suicide) का मामला लगातार उलझता जा रहा है. किसी को ये यकीन नहीं हो रहा है कि फातिमा ने खुदकुशी कर ली. परिवारवाले इसे आत्महत्या नहीं बल्कि हत्या मान रहे हैं. उन्हें आरोप लगाया कि इसमें IIT मद्रास के ही एक प्रोफेसर का हाथ हो सकता है, जो कथित रूप से उसके अलग धर्म के कारण उसके साथ भेदभाव करता था. बढ़ते दबाव के चलते अब कॉलेज प्रशासन ने केंद्रीय अपराध शाखा को जांच की जिम्मेदारी दी है.
The family of Fathima Latheef has alleged that the 18-year-old, who was found hanging in her hostel room at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, killed herself after facing harassment from a faculty member.
A suicide note retrieved from her phone says “her teacher is the reason for her death”, her father Abdul Latheef said at a press meet here on Tuesday.

Fathima, a first-year student of humanities and a rank holder, joined the IIT in July 2019 and was found dead in her room on Saturday.
