I am not from the Eastor the West, not out of the ocean or up from the ground,

not natural or ethereal, notcomposed of elements at all. I do not exist, am not an entity in this world or in the next,

did not descend from Adam and Eve or any origin story. My place is placeless, a traceof the traceless.

Neither body or soul. I belong to the beloved, have seen the two worlds as one and that one call to and know, first, last, outer, inner,

only that breath breathing human being.

सात समंदर की मसि करौं लेखनि सब बनराइ।
धरती सब कागद करौं हरि गुण लिखा न जाइ॥

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि मैं इन सातों सागर को अपनी लेखनी के स्याही की तरह और इस धरती को एक कागज़ की तरह प्रयोग करें। फिर भी श्री हरी के गुणों को लिखा जाना सम्भव नहीं है।

Even if you wear to transform, the seven oceans into Ink, The world’s trees into pens, The whole earth into paper, You couldn’t write down the list of gods excellence.

प्रतिपदा का कमज़ोर, क्षीण चाँद

थका हारा सा अपनी

पीली अल्प सी चाँदनी ,

पलाश के आग जैसे  लाल फूलों पर

बिखेरता हुआ बोला –

बस कुछ दिनो की बात है .

मैं फिर पूर्ण  हो जाऊँगा।

मेरी चाँदी सी चाँदनी हर अोर बिखरी होगी .

 

प्रतिपदा – पक्ष की पहली तिथि।

दीवाली अौर दीये !

हमने खुद जल कर उजाला किया.

अमावास्या की अँधेरी रातों में,

 बयार से लङ-झगङ कर…

तुम्हारी ख़ुशियों के लिए सोने सी सुनहरी रोशनी से जगमगाते रहे.

और आज उसी माटी में पड़े हैं…..

उसमें शामिल होने के लिए

जहाँ से जन्म लिया था.

यह थी हमारी एक रात की ज़िंदगी.

क्या तुम अपने को जला कर ख़ुशियाँ बिखेर सकते हो?

कुछ पलों में हीं जिंदगी जी सकते हो?

  सीखना है तो यह सीखो।

हम कभी क़ैद होते है ख्वाबों, ख्वाहिशों , ख्यालों, अरमानों में।

कभी होते हैं अपने मन अौर यादों के क़ैद में।

हमारी रूह शरीर में क़ैद होती है।

क्या हम आजाद हैं?

या पूरी जिंदगी ही क़ैद की कहानी है?

दिवाली में दीये तो जला सकतें हैं ना?

ग्लोबल वार्मिंग की गरमाहट

तो नहीं बढ़ जायेगी……

नन्हा दीया हँस पङा।

अपने दोस्तों को देख बोला –

देखो इन्हें जरा…..

सारी कायनात  अपनी गलतियों से जलाने वाले

हमारी बातें कर रहें हैं।

जैसे सारी गलती हमारी है।
