The idea of observing National Milk Day was first mooted by Indian Dairy Association (IDA) in 2014 on the lines of World Milk Day observed on June 1 under the aegis of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
हर साल 26 नवंबर को राष्ट्रीय दुग्ध दिवस (एनएमडी) के रूप में मनाया जाता है । यह श्वेत क्रांति के जनक डॉ. वर्गीश कुरियन के जन्मदिन के दिन मनाया जाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र खाद्य और कृषि संगठन (एफएओ) के तत्वावधान मे राष्ट्रीय दूध दिवस पहली बार भारतीय दुग्ध संघ (आईडीए) द्वारा 2014 से विश्व दूध दिवस (1 जून ) के तर्ज पर मनाया जाना शुरु किया गया।।
