किवदंति – दधीचि ने अपने शरीर / अस्थियों का दान, इन्द्र के अनुरोध पर, लोक कल्याण के लिये किया था। क्योंकि ब्रह्म तेज़, महर्षि दधीचि के हड्डियों से बने वज्र से राक्षस वृत्रासुर का संहार संभव था।
